ACNU-308A: Pathophysiology & Pharmacology Part A

This course focuses on the study of underlying structural and functional changes in body physiology that result from disease or injury and altered total body function in individuals across the lifespan. The pathophysiological and clinical manifestations of various diseases are explained in terms of body systems. The course examines the interrelationships among genetic, genomic, physiological, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, and cultural factors that contribute to disease morbidity and mortality, as well as the integration of health promotion and disease prevention. Introductory evidence-based pharmacological principles are studied to understand how drugs affect humans across the lifespan. This course integrates the nursing process to promote clinical judgment when using drug therapy to provide safe and individualized client care. Drug classifications, therapeutic effects, adverse reactions, and potential toxicities are analyzed in relation to the pathophysiological processes.
