ACNU-201: Fundmntls & Health Promotion

The purpose of this course is to introduce fundamental nursing skills and the application of the nursing process in the provision of safe, competent, and evidence-based nursing care. Emphasis is placed on health promotion across the lifespan. Professionalism, standards of practice, ethics, nursing theory, communication, and the evolving roles and responsibilities of the professional nurse are examined and applied to clinical practice, including the development of patient-centered plans of care and effective communication within interprofessional teams and therapeutic nurse–client relationships. Nursing skills are developed in the laboratory setting and implemented under supervision in community-based clinical environments.
